So this is a story about a peacock and a crow. Happened so, after reading many stories for many days, finally last night I wanted to tell kids a story I create. Before that they both received a good lecture on being grateful and saying thank you more often than complaining. I have found out that a child is quite a selfish being. Even me as a child. They will do anything to make themselves happy, not caring much about how the parent will feel. Hungry- grumpy, need something — pleading, watching cartoon — ignoring.. and well thats how they are. I was no good either, until I became a parent, I think I try to see mine as human being first than someone who are suppose to fulfil all my demands, and bear all my tantrums. Anyways now I have vented coming back to the story..

In a jungle, a big one there lived many beings and one peacock. It wasn’t any ordinary peacock. It was the most beautiful being who lived there. Any other being which crossed way with the peacock couldn’t help themselves not staring at the God’s creation. And were always full of praises for it. The peacock, has gotten used to the attention. The gapes of strangers, the awe’s they say and the praises they shower.

Until one find day, it met a crow. The crow was simply sitting minding his own business. Which was basking in the sun. It so happened that after many rains, the sun finally shone, and the crow tired of its wet wings, spread them out, and was enjoying the warmth of it. Until the peacock crossed.

Peacock got quite angry at this crow which didn’t gaped, didn’t awed or showered any praise on the bird. How dare the crow not do any of those things which every other being of this jungle does. How could this ball of blackness ignore the bundle of colors! Peacock was fuming now.

Hey there you.. Hey hey hey… Peacock blurted..
You talkin to me ? The Crow squawked..
Yes you, who else do you see here? Peacock was quite angry now.

How can I help you? Crow asked.
Peacock — Don’t you see me, you are suppose to say something about my beauty.
Crow quite disturbed by the Peacock now, said- Well why, what’s so special about you? Just another day I saw a similar looking bird over the river.

Peacock was now all enraged, another peacock! it felt threatened. It rushed to the river, and well I am sure you know where I am getting at. Yes it stood over a stone and looked down, only to find another peacock looking back right at it!

Any question the peacock asked was met by silence. I mean the reflections don’t talk do they. I mean just imagine looking yourself in the mirror in the morning, and hearing it say — Morning Gorgeous! I mean you are gonna freak out. But well coming back to our Peacock, it freaked out because the reflection wasn’t talking back. What followed was a sheer spectacle of its misery.

The Peacock with all its might attacked the one in the river. After struggling with its shattered ego, a failed bird all wet and grumpy and tired and irritated came out of the river and sat beneath the tree. The Crow now all dried up, couldn’t stop laughing at the poor Peacock.

So, looks like you weren’t able to talk to the river peacock — the Crow asked with amusement.
No, with tears flowing through its eyes the Peacock whined.
Hmm looks like you are one of those beauty with no brains, the Crow taunted.
Peacock- realizing all the foul play looked at the Crow with angry eyes..

After that… the Crow — aage aage.. and Peacock peeche peeche…
[this means the peacock started chasing the crow…]

If you happen to look out of your window now.. you might see a Crow flying, with the Peacock trailing behind…. well if you see them that’s the story!

[Meaning — the great never sing their greatness]

Enjoy!
