Oh Womaniya!!

Its a very catchy phrase, i think you will agree. I mean if you say, O Maniya, it appears you saying someone maniac, but this is so cool — O Womaniya. So the celebrations have begun after all 8th is a sunday so well corporates have had to do it early. And there is another going to happen on twitter, where people are gonna change their handle names #SheInspiresUs. Wow. A young environmental activist from India, a girl obviously refused to be recognized by this [read political activites] and well, i have sent my blessing to her.

My problem is not the celebration associated with this day, my problem is the absolute no celebration associated with international men’s day by the same corporates. Its like we are still the ‘extinct’ species who need to be ‘handled with care’, have to be ‘celebrated’. When will the day come when we will arrive? When?

I was extremely happy to read about an organization who has established 50/50 gender equality across all leadership roles globally, now thats a celebration, and for that i will give standing ovation. Unilever is that organization. I just want to know has your organization given a thought about it, done something about it- did you ask them? equal pay? parental leave?

my sister today sent me a news paper story of a person called Katherine, i wont take much of your time, if you want to know about her, either watch the movie ‘Hidden Figures’ or read the link — https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/24/science/katherine-johnson-dead.html . After reading it, i apologised to her, and told her i will never again question your participation in women day events you go for.

But my question remains, when will the men of this world in true sense realize the ‘shakti’ of the ‘shiva’ in them. Get in touch with your ‘woman’ side this day my dear men and celebrate that. That’s all my request will be. I will wait for the corporates to celebrate the international men’s day with the same zeal as they do for the women. Equality helps. Inclusion helps. Always.
