The internet is full today about the news related to abortion rights of women taken away by the US supreme court ruling. Although I am sure many are aghast, there must be equivalent millions who would have found that the justice is served. Some time ago I watched a disturbing limited series on Netflix called as Keep Sweet Pray and Obey. A group of individuals who practice polygamy among other things. So what’s the connection between these two, or the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, or the rule to not wear scarf by women students in India? What is the connection? Women?

Who actually who gives the right to one or a group or a society to dictate a human being to live, behave, obey, earn, eat in a certain way? People whom we only elect at authority level. So the question we should all ask as a group is those who are elected do they represents the current mindset of society in general. Time and again for various reasons, I believe one gender has find immense satisfaction to control the other gender. Women should do this, and not this. You will find such immense references in all religion, all sects, and books. There isn’t a religion I have heard of where such rules don’t exist. And they do exists for men too. But what if you don’t want to follow, under which law you suddenly become a criminal because you want to exercise your right to live free without causing harm to anyone or anything around you?

Who protects an individual from such draconian laws? Should we wait for an activist to take it upto themselves to fight this. It took tireless effort of a person called as Vidyasagar, and British rule to give freedom to widows of India, that they can remarry. But how many times such Vidyasagars will exists and will fight for what you believe. Because what you believe is what you chose to elect.

And this is also true that a certain minority whoever is it will always suffer if the majority doesn’t have it in their will to protect them. A plain simple truth. Various companies MNC’s boycotted Russia when they started war with Ukraine. My question is will such MNC’s, important organizations cease their operations in such states of US as well whichever chose to apply this law?

I am not sure who will do what but if its really your policy to be an equal opportunity employer, and your voice counts maybe you can make a difference by standing in these times with the women folks who work with you.
