Before I start the story, I wish i had the energy to draw the illustrations for it. I love doing that. But maybe i will add them later, lest I forget the story. Now this story you could relate to your profession, your work environment, your personal life, wherever you think it fits best. A parallel analogy which came to my mind was, before creating panic, analyze if the panic is a panic or just a misunderstanding. So here goes the story…

Once in a jungle, a monkey from far away land came. He was a bit unusual monkey for he had a very very very very still very long tail. Tired from all his excursions he thought he will rest on a tree. As he slept peacefully, his long very long, absolutely very long tail hanged down the tree. What happened next was enough to bring together an elephant, a tiger, a giraffe and a deer all because a bird panicked. And not any bird, it was this important bird in the jungle, important by her standards.

So the bird, I mean the important bird was eating a few worms it could find on the ground when she came across the tail. It frightened her immediately as she imagined without doubt it being a python, or some other unfathomable creature, because the tail was very very, and yet very very long. So she went flying here and there and hearing her panic, the elephant, giraffe, tiger and a deer came down near the tree.

It looks like a snake to me, the deer perched. Well I think its just an aerial root the elephant contemplated. Lets try biting it the tiger suggested! What? Nah I don’t think its a great idea the giraffe said, what if its poisonous! and so on and forth the discussion went on. A pig who was passing by heard all the commotion. He heard the entire story and suggested the bird, well looks like you got wings why don’t you fly a bit up and see what is this really. Is it a tail, an aerial root, a rope or a big dangerous snake!

The bird realized oh yes she could indeed have flown checked it herself and then raised alarm. So she flew up sheepishly only to find a monkey sleeping soundly. The bird came down and as she narrated what she saw, all laughed, and were relived at the same time. The tiger then decided instead of biting to tickle the tail, so that the monkey could wake up. So she did it, and that’s another story what happened after the monkey woke up!

That’s all folks, before you jump to a conclusion and create panic, use your best of abilities to understand the reason for something unusual. And then you will always have a pig to give you that perspective if you couldn’t :)

Yet another afternoon story with my children, and here it ends.
